Costa Wants To Go – Is He Worth Keeping?

By TransfersNo Comments

There have been rumours that Diego Costa wants to go and has handed in a transfer request. The aim being to manufacture a move back to Athletico Madrid. Whilst it is unsettling to hear that our top scorer last season may want to leave it is not surprising.

The question is given his baggage, is he worth keeping?

Diego Costa is a controversial character on and off the pitch. On the pitch, he can start an argument with his shadow. Off the pitch he shunned his country of birth and represent Spain. A move that led to uproar.

Whether Costa wants to stay or not is he worth keeping?

Passion and fire is a great thing but a player that cannot maintain some level of consistency in behaviour can be an issue. Combined with his injury record a player that you may lose for a quarter of the average season quickly becomes a liability.

The problem is that when he is fit and in the right mindset he scores goals, lots of them. Despite his troubles last season he recovered to become the Blues top scorer and should he stay and be focused, he has proven that he can get it done in the Premier League.

Replacement Options If Costa Wants To Go

The problem with systems Chelsea have played in the past is that they only allow one striker.  This limits the amount of back-up you can have available. Chelsea have already bought a striker so maybe they have seen this coming and planned for any outcome.

Chelsea have signed Michy Batshuayi from Marseille. At 22 he is an eye to the future, but if Costa wants to go, then we have a high profile backup.

FamousCFC.com opinion

Costa is always a divider of opinion and despite the goals the latest round of speculation does it for us.  We only want players who want to be here to wear the shirt. If Costa leaves then he will command a monster fee.

After all he is a proven goal-scorer in Europe’s top leagues, that drives opposition fans crazy.

Maccabi Tel Aviv Reaction – Willian Voted Man Of Match By Fans

By Match CentreNo Comments

Last night Chelsea ran out comfortable winners against Maccabi Tel Aviv. This win looks emphatic on paper but against ten men for more than 45 minutes the overall tone of the performance was slightly worrying.

It was the quality of the opposition and a wild moment by a former Chelsea defender that allowed the score to look so respectable, rather than a rampant Chelsea performance.

Eden Hazard, Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas all looked lacklustre and failed to make an impact, whilst Jose Mourinho may laugh off arguments at half time with Costa, it was clear that something was not quite right.

Going forward, things were still too slow, the goals game from set pieces and despite the advantage we did not dominate the chances as you would have expected. In fact even down to ten men Tel Aviv were able to force Asmir Begovic into some fine saves.

A win though is a win, a draw against Porto will see the Blues through and when you are not playing well that is all that matters.

Willian Man of The Match

Despite some of the star names having average nights there were some standout performances, Begovic produced two or three top saves and Baba Rahman showed that going forward he has the ability to cross the ball.

The stand out performer though was the same person as it has been for the majority of the season. Willian put in another fantastic shift and scored his sixth set piece in 12 attempts this season.

After he and Baba Rahman got the most tweets suggesting they were candidates for man of the match, we put it to a vote and the result was overwhelming.

Willian got the FamousCFC man of the match award gaining nearly 70% of the 500+ votes cast, lets hope he can continue that against the team that bought his flight.

Diego Costa To Atlético Madrid – Such Nonsense

By Chelsea NewsNo Comments

Whilst Chelsea have been touring down under in Sydney, a rather surprising rumour has cropped up regarding our star striker, Diego Costa as there is little else to write about at the moment and we assume the press are bored.  Diego Costa to Atlético Madrid is simply not going to happen!

Diego Costa to Atlético Madrid (The Guardian)

The resilient striker, who netted 20 league goals for the Champions this season, is reportedly struggling with life in England, and is considering a return to Atlético. This revelation has seemingly come from the blue, (No pun intended) with Costa’s form on the pitch showing no signs of discontent.

The usual reasons have been cited for his unhappiness, language and the weather being obvious barriers he has yet to overcome. There have also been reports that he split from his girlfriend upon the move to England, and, combined with his disruptive injuries this term, it’s quite easy to sympathise with the forward.

Whilst Costa and Mourinho have quashed the rumours immediately, the Chelsea department which deals with the acclimatisation of foreign stars will have their work cut out to ensure that Costa can focus solely on his football. Another worry is that close friend Filipe Luís could be on his way out, meaning Costa’s isolation could be exacerbated.

FamousCFC.com Chelsea Transfer Rumour Analysis – These rumours are an interesting juxtapose between the striker who exudes strength and confidence on the pitch, and the human being who is homesick and struggling to adapt. Fortunately however, I’m fairly confident that these rumours are being run purely because their sensationalist nature.

There’s very little chance that Costa could leave this transfer window, or indeed during the winter one. However if Costa is still unhappy this time next year, it could be an entirely different story.

Diego Costa to Atlético Madrid is simply not going to happen!
