Nice Touch By West Brom To Travelling Chelsea Fans!,

By Chelsea Away3 Comments

Despite the dodgy results, West Brom has always been one of my favourite places to visit as a Chelsea fan, the people are friendly and there is usually a decent atmosphere (normally because they are beating us).

This picture was a great gesture too thanking Chelsea fans for making the trip, which is better than most away grounds you visit where they treat you with disdain and cannot wait to get rid of you. I have been to the Hawthorns 3 out of the last 4 seasons and rate the experience quite highly on all fronts.

Here are some other reasons I like travelling to the Hawthorns.

  • The ground is easy to get to via the train or tram.
  • There are places to drink within walking distance of the ground, including the Vine which does some amazing pub food
  • Away fans are behind the goal and have a decent view of the pitch
  • At half time they open the gates so people can go have a cigarette (and not hide in the toilets)
  • They serve beer and its cheaper than in London
  • The police, stewards and even opposition fans are friendly

Away End West brom Chelsea

All in all win, lose or draw it is a place where you can travel too, meet your mates, have a drink and watch football. I don’t know about you but that’s all i want from a football away day.

Also the other ground in Birmingham in the Premier League is Villa Park, it is nice to visit a ground that has friendly fans and is not a dump.

Hats off to West Brom and once again nice touch

Thank you for travelling 260 miles (distance between the Hawthorns and Stamford Bridge and back), congratulation on winning the 2014/2015 league title.

We hope you enjoy the pre-match entertainment, the Balti Pies and have a safe journey home

Time To Move On From Eva Carneiro/Mourinho Saga!

By Chelsea NewsOne Comment

The last week the media has taken the bait and reported endlessly on the Eva Carneiro story, whilst there are few that agree with Jose Mourinho, it is time to calm down and move on.

Firstly let’s all agree that Mourinho is wrong, I am sure that he would probably admit this but he has managed to take the focus off the team, which is obviously a little off the pace straight out of the gate.

There is obvious sympathy for Carneiro who is the scapegoat, but I am still holding out hope that this is a well crafted mind game. We also have a little bit of reverse sexism going on here from the media.  I do not think the media would be quite be as voracious if this was a portly middle aged male doctor that had received the same treatment from Mourinho.

I am sure the story would still have been covered but not quite in the same way.

Instead the media has collectively lost its shit about the rights and wrongs of the situation. Each day has added a new dimension, a new quote and call from action. It feels like we will be talking about the rights and wrongs of her demotion from game day duties.

I respect Carneiro, she is an extremely qualified doctor that has served the club and I hope that sense is finally seen and she is reinstated. However until that happens Jose Mourinho is the boss and he needs to have the staff he wants on the bench.

It is not ideal but if that means Carneiro is banished from the bench then so be it. I am sorry that is how it goes, time for the media to pack up its bags and find the next Jose inspired saga to focus on.

Jose Mourinho & Chelsea Concede Title To Arsenal!

By Chelsea NewsNo Comments

Last season Arsenal thumped Manchester City 3-0 in the Community Shield. Arsene Wenger’s men after a decade of waiting used this momentum to win the Premier League for the first time in a decade.

Therefore having beaten Jose Mourinho for the first time in his career, Wenger is absolutely nailed on to win the Premier League for a second year in a row.

In fact there are rumours going round that Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United are thinking of awarding Arsenal the trophy in August and forgoing the draining experience of playing a season of Premier League football.#

Jose Mourinho has bowed down before the tactical genius and trophy machine Arsene Wenger to congratulate him on a job well done.

So congratulations to Arsenal on winning the Community Shield and retaining the Premier League for the second season in a row.

Wait what Arsenal didn’t win the league last season? What!!!!!

But they play the beautiful football and there manager is convinced they are the best team in the league, surely they won the league.

They lost by more than 10 points, don’t be silly there is no way an Arsene Wenger team that had succumbed to “this year is going to be our yearitis” first discovered in Anfield circa 1993 could ever be defeated.

So yeah basically for all the fans Chelsea, Arsenal or other could you please stop losing your shit over a friendly. Yes it was a good performance by Arsenal and on the balance of play for the first hour they probably deserved it. However one swallow does not make a season.

It is delightful that Wenger and Arsenal now have the false hope of beating Jose Mourinho, once in a friendly match but it is another thing entirely for that to translate to success in the Premier League.

Chelsea Winless In Pre-Season So Far – No Need To Panic

By Chelsea NewsNo Comments

Having been starved of football for nearly two months, football is starting to creep back into the lives of Premier League supporters. The new season is getting close and we seeing English clubs return to action.

Chelsea have been in the United States on a PR blitz playing in three games. The Blues lost their first game against a stronger, fitter and better drilled New York Red Bulls who are halfway through the MLS season. However as fitness and competitiveness grew the Blues secured creditable draws against Paris St Germain and Barcelona.

On a less important note, the Blues also got some penalty taking confidence as they won two shootouts in their last two games to technically triumph over PSG and Barcelona.

Chelsea have made tentative steps towards the start of the campaign, Mourinho picked a different XI to start each half of the fist game. This gave all the clubs players on tour some game time with the exception of youngsters Nathaniel Chalobah and Jake Clarke Salter.

After craving more football for so long It can be tempting for fans to try and interpret results and performances and translate them into analysis for the season ahead.

Failing to win in pre-season is never ideal, but Chelsea still have Arsenal in the Community Shield and a friendly at Stamford Bridge against Fiorentina.

Before Chelsea fans get too worried, it is worth considering that during last season’s pre-season games the Blues lost twice in a season where they went on to romp to the title. A clear indication that what happens in pre-season stays in pre-season.

With such a relaxed approach to the game and a changeable team, few inside the Chelsea squad or management will share this view.

Chelsea do not lose or go winless very often, so rival fans should enjoy the

Cech, Griezmann & Benteke – Chelsea Transfer Rumour Analysis

By Chelsea NewsNo Comments

It has been a busy week for football, with FIFA seemingly lurching into their largest crisis in recent memory. However the usual rumours regarding Chelsea are still bubbling over quite nicely, despite Jose Mourinho stressing the desire to avoid spending large sums in the summer, something that young stars, such as Ruben Loftus-Cheek, will be hoping is true.

Petr Cech to Arsenal (SKYSPORTS)

Petr Cech is reportedly free to speak with any interested clubs, according to his agent, Victor Kolar. Having lost his starting berth to the young Courtois, Cech is keen to move on in order to gain regular playing time.

FamousCFC.com Chelsea Transfer Rumour Analysis – Sometimes it can seem rumours are plucked out of thin air, this one however, appears an absolute certain. There are realistically only three or four keepers who are better than the Chelsea legend, it’s just a shame for him that one of them is Thibaut Courtois, who has had an imperious debut season. Cech’s departure seems nailed on to happen before the start of the season, with the most likely destination being either Arsenal or PSG. Manchester United may also emerge as contenders should David De Gea move on.

No Chelsea fan would begrudge him a move, even to a Premier League rival, after standing between the sticks for the clubs most successful decade in our history. And indeed, after his penalty heroics on “That night in Munich”, he has license to do whatever he pleases.

Antoine Griezmann to Chelsea (Talksport)

Chelsea look set to continue last seasons plunder of Atletico Madrid by signing the French winger Antoine Griezmann. The Frenchman has a hefty release clause of 46.3 million, meaning this deal would represent the vast majority of our transfer budget.

FamousCFC.com Chelsea Transfer Rumour Analysis – The right side of midfield has been primarily occupied by the industrial Willian for the past two seasons, however, there is a general sense that the Brazilian doesn’t offer enough in the final third, scoring only two goals in the Premier League this season. Antoine Griezmann on the other hand has scored an impressive 22, in Liga BBVA this campaign, the third highest in the league (No points for guessing the top two).

This rumour has been around for a while now, and given that Abramovich has made a habit of writing cheques to the coffers of the Calderon, it seems fairly plausible. However, given the hefty price tag, and the consensus that Juan Cuadrado should be given more time to make his mark on the right side, this could be one for the January transfer window.

Christian Benteke to Chelsea (Talksport)

The Belgian born striker has been rejuvenated under Tim Sherwood at the latter end of this season, helping Aston Villa to a rare FA cup final, and Premier League survival. A reported 32.5 million release clause has caught the attention of the Blues.

FamousCFC.com Chelsea Transfer Rumour Analysis – With Drogba set to leave the club after helping us to the league title, Chelsea will undoubtedly have to bolster our striking options once again. Whilst many fans will be hoping that young stars such as Patrick Bamford, and Dominic Solanke could be drafted in to the first team, Benteke would bring undoubted quality into the squad.

Benteke is very much a “Mourinho player”. Strong, good in the air, the Belgian striker would suit Chelsea very nicely, particularly given the current friendship the countrymen share.

Chelsea Gareth Bale, Griezmann

Paul Clement Gareth Bale & Griezmann – Chelsea Transfer Rumour Analysis

By Chelsea NewsNo Comments

The transfer rumours are still in a quiet phase for Chelsea particularly as there are only one or two areas that we are looking to improve this season.

Here are the latest Chelsea transfer rumours that are doing the rounds.

Paul Clement To Derby – BBC Sport

There is widespread reports that former Chelsea and Real Madrid coach Paul Clement is moving to England to manage Derby County. Although this is not a transfer story involving Chelsea directly, a Chelsea man at a Championship club could mean lots of loans between Chelsea and the midlands club.

FamousCFC.com Chelsea Transfer Rumour Analysis – This seems like a done deal and would be a great move to have a Chelsea man managing an English league club

Gareth Bale To Chelsea – Daily Express

Despite winning the Champions League in his first season the fans seem to have turned on Bale at Real Madrid and with increased competition for places he may be heading for the exit door.

FamousCFC.com Chelsea Transfer Rumour Analysis  – This rumour is just speculation with no clear sources or new information but it is worth monitoring as Bale may be returning to the Premier League

Griezmann to ChelseaMetro

Chelsea have a thing for buying players from Athletico Madrid having bought Diego Costa and Felipe Luis from there last season. The rumours are strong that the first signing of the summer could be Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann.

Who is he? Having come from seemingly nowhere he scored 22 goals in La Liga last season filling the shoes of Chelsea bound Diego Costa nicely.

The Metro reports that Atletico will not sell him for less than his release clause, which would make him an expensive acquisition but with the TV money this would not be out of Chelsea’s reach.

FamousCFC.com Chelsea Transfer Rumour Analysis  – This is a strong rumour and is not going away, it would not surprise FamousCFC.com if this was done, although whether he will be happy being a back up player is another matter.

Chelsea 2015/2016 Planning Starts Now

By Chelsea NewsNo Comments

The season is not over but with nothing else left to win the Chelsea 2015/2016 planning starts now.

This summer is going to be interesting, mainly because the other teams in the league are going to buy in order to strengthen. Manchester City might need a serious overhaul and new manager, and Arsenal…will probably just buy more attacking players instead of what they actually need. The wild card is Manchester United, who might pose a threat under Louis Van Gaal next season if he can get the right players to balance his squad and fill the holes.

Chelsea however will see changes too. First, and most tragic, is Petr Cech leaving. I was hoping Cech would retire here, but he is a top 3 keeper, and so is Courtois. That situation can’t stay the same forever, and one of them has to leave. As much as I hate to say it, the team has to look to the future, and Courtois is young enough to be part of that future, Cech is not. He wants to play for a top team, and this summer will have plenty of offers. I will be sad to see him go however.

As I mentioned earlier in the post, we need some better cover for the center midfield and attacking midfield positions, so that suspensions and injuries don’t disrupt the team in the way they did this season. This need not be a massive influx of players, maybe one signing in each position should suffice, and then bring in several young players. Ruben Loftus-Cheek would actually be sufficient if Mikel doesn’t leave this summer, though I suspect the Nigerian might be on his way out.

He will also be missed, and he was always one of my favourite players at the club.

I’m curious as to whether or not Drogba will stay as a player. He provided some massive goals this season, but everyone could see that his age was finally catching up to him, and he didn’t have the legs to threaten as he once used to. I wonder if Patrick Bamford is brought in next season to provide a third option, or if Drogba will continue to play for one more season as third choice.

But I am glad him and Remy were brought in, because they scored massive goals when Costa was gone, and deputized ably.

Next season Chelsea 2015/2016, I would like to Chelsea retain the league title, and also win at least one of the domestic cups again. A league and cup double is always so satisfying. I also expect them to move further into the Champions League next season, ideally to win it. The squad we have is excellent now, and with some more depth, means we can rest big players to keep them fresh for the big CL games. I think this squad can handle the big guns next season, be it Madrid, Barca or Bayern, and there is no excuse for at least not making it to the semi finals.

Chelsea 2014/2015 – A Tale Of Two Seasons

By Chelsea NewsNo Comments

This season actually saw two different versions of Chelsea. In the first half of the season, Chelsea played some really beautiful football. There was quick passing, chance creation, trickery, flair, speed, and good defending as well. It was pleasing on the eye and saw plenty of goals. However, January saw a different Chelsea side, that started grinding out wins slowly and methodically.

Whether it was due to fatigue, critical injuries or suspensions or teams adapting to their style of play, Chelsea fell out of the attacking rhythm they had developed in the first few months of the season.

But Mourinho knows how to get results, and he set his team out to win, and win they did. Consistently, methodically, one game at a time. It is this consistency that saw Chelsea win the league. The team were top of the league since day 1, and lost only twice all season, freak results that no one really saw coming. Some weak refereeing in big games meant Chelsea had to settle for draws with the big teams instead of wins, but those results ended up working out in Chelsea’s favour anyway.

But it was crucial wins against Everton, QPR, West Ham and Hull that saw Chelsea pull ahead of Manchester City, who had drawn level on points with Chelsea in January when the team lost 5-3 to Tottenham of all teams (Shocking right?). But as the second half of the season wore on, Chelsea pulled away from City again, creating another big gap in points.

It is typical of Mourinho sides, but this Chelsea side just know how to win. Whenever a goal was needed, someone stepped up and provided it. Whenever a good defensive performance was needed, the team dug in, rolled up their sleeves and got the job done.

Whenever a big a game was played in the league, Chelsea focused and kept their shape, using counter attacks to devastating effect. Nice performances are great, but wins are what matter, and Chelsea developed a knack of getting those 3 points every game, somehow, someway. That’s how champions are made, and that’s how champions stay at the top.
