We’re Going To Win The League – Thoughts Ahead Of Palace

By Chelsea NewsNo Comments

At FamousCFC.com we are the most cautious and superstitious fans you could imagine, however after Leicester we cannot help but feel wholly optimistic and borderline celebratory.

It has been a long season and a nervy couple of month but it now seems that Chelsea are set to win the Premier League at a canter.

It is now a case of when and not if we will win the title as even if our closest rivals win all their games in the run in only Arsenal can currently overhaul the blues with 15 points to win and the Blues 13 ahead.

It is conceivable the Blues could lose their last four games of the season and still lift the trophy. Yet with three of our four remaining games at home it would be a brave man that would predict Chelsea will triple their number of season defeats.

Victory against Leicester means that a win at home to Crystal Palace would see the Blues win the trophy with three games to spare, which will be one hell of a statement given the jealous charge of “boring” being levied by rival fans.

Win It Against Palace

The hope among Chelsea fans will be that the league is won against Crystal Palace on Sunday giving fans an afternoon in central London to properly celebrate and be 100% sure that the job is done.

Another side effect of this would be that Liverpool have confirmed that they would give Chelsea a guard of honour should Chelsea have won the league ahead of the fixture between the two clubs.

Something that would be incredibly satisfying given the history between the two clubs and that Chelsea were instrumental in denying the scousers a title last season.

It should be a great day out and we look forward to a brilliant day in London and hopefully a party on the Fulham road.

Cesc Fabregas Song – Fabregas Is Magic He Wears A Magic Hat

By Chelsea NewsNo Comments

It has taken almost a year but Cesc Fabregas finally has his own song from the Chelsea faithful to the tune of “My Old Man’s A Dustman”

The Cesc Fabregas song was doing the rounds before, during and after the Arsenal game and has caught fire since then with fans even bringing their own magic hats.

Here are the words

Fabregas is Magic, He Wears A Magic Hat

He Could Of Signed For Arsenal But He Said No F&*K That!

He passes with his left foot, he passes with his right

And When We Win The League Again We’ll Sing This Song All Night

Zola Causing Mayhem Against Manchester United (Video)

By Chelsea NewsNo Comments

With Chelsea set to play Manchester United at Stamford Bridge in a crunch game with the title on the horizon it seem appropriate to look back through the archives and past performances.

Both sides have some great flare players in their teams with Hazard, Mata, Oscar, Di Maria and Rooney all likely to have some involvement and each capable of producing something out of this world to make their mark on the game.

With so much at stake a moment of magic could be the difference between the two sides today and in the past when you think of magic and Chelsea a diminutive Italian comes to mind and as you would expect he has a beauty of a goal against Manchester United in the archive.

The goal we are sharing with you comes from way back in 1997, Ruud Guillit was in charge and it was a time when Chelsea were still a few months away from winning the FA Cup. Which was the first major domestic trophy won by the club for 26 years that would forever write the name Roberto Di Matteo into folklore.

Manchester United were on a comfortable march to the title, whilst Chelsea would finish 6th, which for the time was another step forwards as teh club moved from mid table mediocrity towards being the force in English football we all know today.

Chelsea made an barnstorming start to the match with Zola setting the world alight with an amazing goal, he twisted and turned beating players this way and that before slamming the ball home with only 2 minutes on the clock. A young David Beckham equalised but Chelsea gained a respectable draw and Zola once again underlined his immense quality and ability to change a game.

So let’s just take a minute to see and appreciate the brilliance of this moment from one of Chelsea’s greatest ever players Gianfranco Zola

Is This Chelsea’s New Kit? A Trip Down Shirt Sponsor Memory Lane

By Chelsea NewsNo Comments

This summer will see Chelsea Football Club wave goodbye to Samsung as our shirt sponsor with Yokohama taking over.

Samsung have been emblazoned on the front of our shirts for nine years, during which time Chelsea have won everything domestically and in Europe with the exception of the European Super Cup. In fact you could say that Samsung have got excellent exposure as winners during their time in the hotseat.

Chelsea have won the following since 2005/2006

  • Two Premier League titles
  • More FA Cups than you can shake a stick at
  • One European Cup
  • One Europa League
  • Some Community Shields
  • At least one League Cup (its hard to keep up)

The announcement of a new primary sponsor always gets people excited as it means that there will be an inevitable change in kit and often a change in style. Over the last few generations Chelsea have had some iconic kits and the sponsor plays a part in that.  From Commodore to Coors when I think of iconic players such as Lampard, Zola and co I can clearly see the sponsors logo emblazoned on their head.

Here is one of the theories as to what the shirt could look like

Here are the sponsors we have had in my time

COMMODORE (1987-93) and AMIGA (1993-94)

Computer company, hardly rock and roll but Amiga was on our shirts for our first Cup finals in more than 25 years and the first kits I remember, I will always love them.

COORS (1994-97)

US based beer maker, they graced the chest of Dennis Wise, Gianfranco Zola, Roberto Di Matteo and Gianluca Vialli and were sponsors for the 1997 FA Cup Final. To prove advertising works, I still look to see if the bar I am in serves their lager. Who can forget this gem.

AUTOGLASS (1997-01)

Hardly rock and roll but success continued under this windshield replacement company. They also were the sponsors for this my favourite Chelsea away kit chels-45

FLY EMIRATES (2001-05)

Although now associated with Arsenal, the Middle Eastern airline a forerunner of a previous sponsor Gulf Air sponsored Chelsea in their first foray into British sponsorship. They were on the chest of Frank Lampard at the Reebok as he scored the goals that saw Chelsea lift their first ever Premier League trophy. It almost feels like sacrilidge that they are now associated with Arsenal.

Charlie Adam Hit A Worldie – Here Are Some Stunning Chelsea Goals

By Chelsea NewsNo Comments

Charlie Adam beat Thibaut Courtois with a swerving strike from 60 yards to score a goal that will be remembered as one of the most iconic in Premier League history.

Whilst some people may be looking to blame Thibaut Courtois for his positioning, this is wholly unfair, instead we should just appreciate that Adam scored a world class goal and respect that. But rather than focus too much on a member of the opposition, this is an opportunity to see some beautiful goals scored by Chelsea players throughout our history.

We have gone through the archives with CampoRetro to find some iconic goals from Chelsea legends over the years!

Chelsea legends!

Gianfranco Zola Backheel

Playing against Norwich in the FA Cup Gianfranco Zola scored a goal that defies belief. A sidefooted back heeled volley into the top corner, a magical goal with added poignance when we found out that Zola had promised to dedicate his next goal to terminally ill child who had died days before.

One of Chelsea’s greatest ever players he was a true magician and this goal sums up how he could create something from nothing.

Mario Stanic Opening Day v West Ham

After winning the FA Cup in 2000, Chelsea signed two expert finishers in Eidur Gudjohnsen and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. However on his Premier League debut fellow new signing Mario Stanic announced himself to the world.

He controls the ball, flicks it up a few times then volleys it into the net in a emphatic opening day victory.

Roberto Di Matteo FA Cup Final Goal

The Champions League winning manager also scored one of the quickest and stunning goals in FA Cup Final history. After just 43 seconds against Middlesbrough he unleashed a shot into the top corner just at the Chelsea fans got to the crescendo of 10 men went to mow. Poetic and awe inspiring this goal helped deliver Chelsea’s first trophy in more than 25 years.

Title Creeps Closer After Nervy But Commanding Win

By Chelsea NewsNo Comments

Yesterday was a game of contradictions, despite one of our best performances at home for a couple of months, we only just limped over the line against Stoke City. The game was packed with incident, a world class goal and a potentially medium term injury to Diego Costa.

During the game we dominated possession and attempts in a high tempo and dominant performance yet lacked the goals, meaning we relied on errors to secure the points.

The Chelsea goals came from a penalty and quick thinking from Willian after a mistake from Amir Begovic with Hazard taking it on and giving Loic Remy a tap in.

The Stoke goal was one for the ages, an iconic goal that could win goal of the decade let alone goal of the year. Breaking from a suspected foul on Eden Hazard 80 yards from goal Stoke brought the ball out and seeing Courtois off his like, let fly with a swerving shot from 65 yards that a scrambling Courtois could only parry into the net.

The star performers of the game were Willian and Eden Hazard. Willian was tireless in his work and was bright to set up the winning move. Hazard was magnificent drifting all over the pitch, taking on defenders, holding the ball and setting up chance after chance.

With Chelsea level at half time Mourinho took a gamble by bringing on Diego Costa for an ineffective Oscar, the gamble did not work as Costa lasted just 10 minutes before limping off with a hamstring injury that could keep him out for weeks.

Therefore the impetus was on Remy and Drogba as it may be for a key part of the season to get the decisive goal.

A world class goal but Chelsea take the points in a commanding performance that lacked the ruthless streak of goals. The title mathematics is now five wins and a draw from 8 games and no one will be able to catch Chelsea.

Diego Costa To Sign For Liverpool Before Midday Today!

By Chelsea NewsNo Comments

Diego Costa is set to sign for Liverpool today in a sensational cut price deal, despite making few friends on Merseyside so far this season it appears that the Chelsea striker just had to play for a team and set of fans as warm as those in Liverpool.

After failing to impress at Stamford Bridge due to his lack of goals, meek attitude to training and shying away from confrontation his time in London seems over. Chelsea are believed to be looking to cash in and get as much of their investment back as possible.

At the moment it seems likely that the fee will be £10m plus a further £5m if Costa develops a scouse accent during his time at Anfield. This standard clause represents a loss to the London club who have been distraught with Costa and desperately miss former blue Fernando Torres.

Costa will likely receive a wage of around £72.40 p/w in line with the rest of the Liverpool squad over the age of 25.

The move may have taken a few by surprise but Costa has come out and said how much he admires Liverpool Football Club and wants to play at a club that challenges for the Premier League title around once per decade.

Costa will be excited to link up with best friend Martin Skrtel and analysts believe that a move to the North will toughen him up both on and off the pitch. An unnamed reporter said

“This move makes sense for everyone and his national team coach will be delighted, now he will have to fight to survive on and off the pitch, this should see this wallflower come out of his shell for a team that can totes win the league.”

This move may be a shock to Chelsea fans, but it appears that the Brazilian is on his way to Anfield

David Luiz – I Still Want Curly Hair Too & He Did Not Need To Apologise

By Chelsea NewsNo Comments

Last night’s performance in the Champions League was an absolute shambles, Chelsea lacked the heart to overcome PSG despite the visitors spending the majority of the game a man short, twice coming from behind to stun Stamford Bridge.

One of the main talking points was the performance of former Blue and European champion David Luiz who put in a world class performance and scored against his former club. He also celebrated and was a general nuisance to our chances all night. This has led to lots of frustrated Chelsea fans taking out their frustration on David Luiz and have fallen out of love with this former blue.

However let’s be realistic he is no longer a Chelsea player and it is his highly paid job to do what he can to win. It is understandable that he would celebrate as it was an important moment in the match.

He has since apologised but that is in my opinion unnecessary, celebrating when you score is a part of football and all this ex player “respect” has become a faux parade of political correctness.

David Luiz was loved by Chelsea fans because although he was not perfect he left it all on the pitch and was a larger than life member of the team. This curly haired defender may not have been a Chelsea legend but he played his heart out for Chelsea and won a bunch of trophies. Not to mention the fact we sold him for £50m a figure which one game will not stop being an insanely good ROI for the club.

David Luiz was a cult figure when he was a Stamford Bridge and should be remembered for what he did here good and bad, not what he did once we sold him for big monies. During his time at the club fans would sing this song

Oh David Luiz, you are the love of my life

Oh David Luiz I’d let you shag my wife

Oh David Luiz I want curly hair too

He may no longer be Chelsea but the game needs more players with the personality and mentality of David Luiz, and deep down I will always remember the time when I wanted curly hair too!
