Chelsea Beat West Ham Worst Performance For Three NIl Win

[POLL] West Ham Victory Worst Three Nil Win In Recent Memory

By Match CentreNo Comments

Chelsea returned to winning ways but not to form against West Ham. Whilst happy with an important win it was arguably the worst three-nil win performance-wise that we can remember.

The performance was pretty dire.

Despite taking the lead reasonably early in the game the performance did not look comfortable at all.

Players kept giving the ball away cheaply and with the exception of Thiago Silva few players seemed to be having a good night. Marginal fouls and offside decisions saved Chelsea on a couple of occasions and it was painful to watch.

In the second half the performance was abject with West Ham allowed to pile on the pressure and come within a whisker of getting an equaliser.

It really felt coming into the last 20 minutes that it was only a matter of time before we were punished by a West Ham side that was full of energy and determination.

However, against the run of play Tammy Abraham latched onto Timo Werners mishit shot with a well-executed finish to create a margin that he extended minutes later with a tidy finish.

Three nil would to neutral be seen as a harsh result based on the balance of play. However as it is Chelsea v West Ham United so the way we win is not important in the slightest as long as we win.

That does not detract from the fact the performance did not match the scoreline.

We polled Chelsea fans to see their thoughts and nearly half agreed this was the worst three-nil performance they could remember.

Yet results are all that matter in football and on Monday we got the result not the performance we needed.

The history books will record the scoreline the brace from Tammy Abraham and three points that gets the club heading back up the table and heading in the right direction.

Is the victory last night the worst three-nil win you can remember?

Horror Jose Mourinho Return Perfect For Chelsea Fans & Players

By Match CentreNo Comments

Chelsea moved past the Jose Mourinho return, in emphatic fashion as the Special One saw his new team destroyed by a Chelsea team finding its feet under Antonio Conte.

The shadow of Jose Mourinho stalked the Chelsea managers that followed after his first spell at the club. With him taking the Manchester United job there was a fear that history could repeat itself.

Unhappy players, a toxic atmosphere and accusations of treachery marred the end of Jose Mourinho’s time at Stamford Bridge as fans saw the man they saw as the club’s talisman leave the club in ignominy.

No one really knew what to expect and how long it would take for Chelsea to move on from the second departure of a club legend.

Jose Mourinho Return An Acid Test

The first test of this would be Jose Mourinho return to Stamford Bridge just a couple of months after taking the reins at Old Trafford.

It took just 36 seconds for Pedro to set the tone and give Chelsea the lead. This destroyed Mourinho’s air of invincibility to fans and Manchester United’s gameplan in an instant.

Chelsea never looked back and strolled to a four-goal victory built on the foundations of a different tactical approach than Mourinho brought to Stamford Bridge.

Many of the players that Antonio Conte picked were at the club under Jose Mourinho, but the way they were used by the Italian today was a world apart from under the Special One. was

The 5-3-1 stifled Manchester United going forward but released Hazard and Pedro on the counter attack.

Everyone at Chelsea needed this result, the fans to move away from Mourinho’s aura, the players to move on from the darker days last winter and the new manager to show a new approach to football at Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho will always be loved at Stamford Bridge but the signs are that the second time we will move on faster than we did the first time.

Even In Pre-Season We Can Laugh at Liverpool FC – Video

By Match CentreOne Comment

Yesterday Chelsea took on Liverpool as part of their pre-season tour recording a 1-0 victory courtesy of a header from Gary Cahill.

Pre-season results mean nothing in the long term, just ask multi Emirates Cup winning manager Arsene Wenger. However, when your B team has the opportunity to upset Liverpool fans half-way across the world it is always enough to bring a smile to your face.

Add in the fact that the Blues played more than 20 minutes with 10 men and getting to see Liverpool fans cry half way across the world and it becomes hilarious. There were more than 50,000 US football fans to bear witness to the build up to a season that undoubtedly Liverpool fans think will be their year.

For those of you who enjoy watching highlights of friendlies, here are some we found.

Mikel Man Of The Match Against Crystal Palace – BUT ONLY JUST!

By Match CentreNo Comments

Chelsea recorded their first win of 2016 and we believe that John Obi Mikel man of the match is the only conclusion you could draw.

At the start of the season telling anyone that John Obi Mikel would be man of the match for Chelsea during the 2015/2016 would have been laughed at.

However the arrival of Mikel fan Guus Hiddink in the dugout has seen a revival in his first team chances. In his three games in charge Mikel has come on as a half time substitute and started two games. In these games he has been like a player reborn.

In the Crystal Palace game he was the anchor in midfield breaking up potential attacks and recycling possession. He was the key behind limiting Crystal Palace and some of the best possession play that Chelsea have put together all season.

John Obi Mikel Man Of The Match

Following the game we put together a poll to find out who was man of the match.

So good was Mikel’s performance that when we put together our man of the match nominations we felt we had little choice than to recognise his performance.  We tweeted the poll just after the match and the votes came rolling in from our happy followers.

Mikel narrowly won the FamousCFC.com man of the match award for the Crystal Palace game in our Twitter poll.  He may have been all four options but the vote was split with the top option getting just over half of the votes.

We would have preferred if he had been the unanimous choice but getting football fans to agree on anything is tough. We hope that there will be many more games where we can argue about which player was the most important factor in securing a Chelsea victory.

Mikel Man Of The Match

In the meantime well done John Obi Mikel and KTBFFH.

Maccabi Tel Aviv Reaction – Willian Voted Man Of Match By Fans

By Match CentreNo Comments

Last night Chelsea ran out comfortable winners against Maccabi Tel Aviv. This win looks emphatic on paper but against ten men for more than 45 minutes the overall tone of the performance was slightly worrying.

It was the quality of the opposition and a wild moment by a former Chelsea defender that allowed the score to look so respectable, rather than a rampant Chelsea performance.

Eden Hazard, Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas all looked lacklustre and failed to make an impact, whilst Jose Mourinho may laugh off arguments at half time with Costa, it was clear that something was not quite right.

Going forward, things were still too slow, the goals game from set pieces and despite the advantage we did not dominate the chances as you would have expected. In fact even down to ten men Tel Aviv were able to force Asmir Begovic into some fine saves.

A win though is a win, a draw against Porto will see the Blues through and when you are not playing well that is all that matters.

Willian Man of The Match

Despite some of the star names having average nights there were some standout performances, Begovic produced two or three top saves and Baba Rahman showed that going forward he has the ability to cross the ball.

The stand out performer though was the same person as it has been for the majority of the season. Willian put in another fantastic shift and scored his sixth set piece in 12 attempts this season.

After he and Baba Rahman got the most tweets suggesting they were candidates for man of the match, we put it to a vote and the result was overwhelming.

Willian got the FamousCFC man of the match award gaining nearly 70% of the 500+ votes cast, lets hope he can continue that against the team that bought his flight.
