Yossi Benayoun – His Presence & Comments Are Unneeded At Chelsea FC

Yossi Benayoun has not content with being a player that the club don’t really want has decided to endear himself to the club by making inappropriate comments about the club and in particular Fernando Torres to the national media.

Many have focussed on what he said (which wasn’t as bad as the headlines suggested) but for me this is not the point, no players let alone those only on the fringe of the squad should be commenting on the clubs management or the performance of other players in the team.

This is not really acceptable and even though his comments were taken out of context it smacks of naivety from a player who has never really become a Chelsea player in anything more than name.

Whilst not a bad footballer, with the talents we have Benayoun is unneeded at Stamford Bridge.

His presence upsets me as however rare his appearances, every minute he is on the pitch is a minute we could be giving to a player with a legitimate future at the club.

His contract is up in the summer and I think there is more chance of a John Obi Mikel hat trick before than the end of the season than the announcement that Benayoun is being retained.

It didn’t work out, but we pay his wages so this should buy his silence.
