Do We Need Rafa To Stay? (Until The End of The Season)

With results taking a nose dive talk of Rafael Benitez staking a claim at the job on a full time basis have thankfully been consigned to the draw labelled “Rafa Facts”.

However unlike the last time Chelsea fans had a temporary manager they did not want fumbling with the reins Rafa is not even treading water.

There is talk that another poor result against Wigan could see Rafa out the door and as much as I want him out I think we may pay the price for his failure if we pull the trigger once again.

This would be fair, Benitez has the worst record of any manager in the Abramovich era and he has shown no sign of the caretaker miracles that Guus Hiddink or Roberto Di Matteo brought to the table.

He is as we predicted weak tactically, unable to coax consistency out of a world class squad and as predictable as a Ferguson referee rant.

He has never been wanted and has convinced no one that he deserves to stand in the dug out but we may need him to survive to give us a chance of a better future without him.

There are few obvious choices to replace him should he accelerate the countdown and we risk losing any chance of lining up a decent candidate in the summer if we further damage our reputation as a management merry go round.

The best we can hope for is that Rafa somehow trips his way to a third place finish in the league and avoiding an embarrassment in the FA Cup and Europa League and leaves with hate in our hearts but no permanent damage.

Rafa Out Yes! But only this useless idiot could find a way to mess up and hurt the club on his way out the door of incompetence.
